Used Car Pre-Purchase Inspections Tacoma Lakewood Puyallup
When it comes to purchasing used vehicles there can be some hidden risks involved that we donít always think of until itís too late. Buyers can become excited or emotionally caught up in the vehicle of their choosing, which will often result in mechanical, cosmetic, or even safety issues that they may not have known about when doing a visual inspection of the vehicle. These types of problems are compounded if the vehicle is being purchased from buyers who live in another city or state and have not come to inspect the vehicle prior to purchasing. To help eliminate the anxiety and get an accurate idea of the vehicles condition, many buyers will often choose to have a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) performed on the vehicle before any purchase is made final. A pre-purchased inspection can be performed by just about any competent mechanic or automotive technician who understands the basics about the vehicle you are looking to purchase.
What should be inspected?
If youíre unsure of what would be a routine inspection, there is unfortunately no standard PPI. The costs of the inspection will usually determine the overall depth of the inspection and what you think needs to be looked at.
Basic inspections will be mostly visual; this includes putting your vehicle on a hydraulic lift and having them check it for any leaks or broken components that may be encountered later on down the road without an inspection.
However, if you want a more detailed and involved inspection, you can have a road test which your components such as the brakes and steering can be properly assessed. A completely thorough inspection will include an engine compression and computer engine analysis.
If you are set on buying a used vehicle, always have a PPI performed to ensure you are not buying into a car that will have mechanical problems shortly after being purchased. Give us a call now at 253-627-0252 and let us help you.
